America's least popular dog breeds, per the AKC

On film and on sidewalks, golden retrievers, German shepherds, Labradors, and poodles are easy to detect and name. 

While no canine breed deserves greater love, human nature might lead us to pick favorites. 

Of course, size, maintenance, allergies, disposition, and temperament affect a breed's national popularity.  

Access—newer or less prevalent breeds have fewer trustworthy breeders, limiting your possibilities for adding one to your family.

Borzois resemble greyhounds and are 32 inches tall from foot to shoulder.  

This enormous but sleek breed was employed to find wolves in Russia and has excellent vision for seeing prey swiftly and from afar. 

Though affectionate, the dogs are hard to teach.
